CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

Virtual reality (VR) is transforming the way healthcare is accessed, prescribed, and taught around the world. The Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library and the Therapeutic Games and Apps Lab are seeking proposals for medical applications and simulation projects to be developed in virtual reality. A single proposal will be selected to receive up to $100,000 that will be used by graduate students in the Therapeutic Games and Apps Lab (The GApp Lab) to develop a prototype medical VR tool over the course of a year. The Therapeutic Games and Apps Lab (The GApp Lab) is a division of the Center for Medical Innovation at the University of Utah. Completed projects will be uploaded to the Eccles Health Sciences Library VR Repository, and library specialists will provide support in disseminating the tool and making it accessible within other hospital and educational settings.

As part of this experience, grantees will receive training and experience in navigating the software development pipeline. They will work alongside and meet regularly with designers and developers to establish the vision for the project and develop content of the proof-of-concept. This Call for Proposals is supported by the Spencer S. Eccles Family Endowment, a fund established in 1977 for the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library.
